Hi Yuqi! Snowboarding sounds very cool. I have never done it before but I really want to try it one day.

This past summer, I had the incredible opportunity to work as a Tech Consultant in Palau, a small Pacific island nation with a population of just 18,000 people.

Hi Savannah, working in Palau seems so cool, and the project seems really meaningful to me! What would you say is the biggest challenge for the experience?

Some of my favorite projects was training a machine learning algorithm to compare faces and return a "similarity" score.

How well did the model work?

Hey Kayo, I also like going to the Yard! What is your favorite thing to order when you go? I prefer the Mac Attack.

@cindywan Hi! We had an opportunity to work with a PhD student, and she introduced us to this project haha.

A large-ish course project I worked on was through a remote internship with a startup. They were trying to create a sports app with fantasy contests, predictive challenges, and sports-themed games. As an intern I helped by implementing prototypes created in Figma.

Hi Riya, this seems really cool do you happen to know if the app ever got launched

Hi Ethan, yes I think we are in the same Calligraphy class! I usually play at the Game Room inside Jared L. Cohon University Center (Go downstairs from entropy). Usually, you have to wait if you come after 4 pm but you get a table before that in most cases. I hope that helps.

@rchernof said in Hey, I'm Rathi:

Hi, Rathi! Your ML experience sounds really interesting and practical. I was curious if you found any of the algorithms involved to be particularly interesting or had any optimizations that performed better or worse than expected. Your martial arts experience also seems really in depth. How much higher can you go once you get your second-degree blackbelt?

Hey, nice to meet you! I primarily worked with algorithms such as SVM, Neural Nets, XGBoost, LSTM, and ExtraTrees during my internship and honestly found the ExtraTrees (with a LOT of feature engineering) to be the best performing. With the computing power we had available, things like Neural Nets took too long to run. And also, yes to the martial arts question. There are a total of 10 degrees of blackbelt, although it takes more and more years between each rank to earn the next one!
