Hey everyone! I'm Jorge

Sup everyone! My name is Jorge (pronounced Hor-hay). Glad to meet you and excited for what's in store for the class.
A software project I've worked on in the past was a mandarin learning mobile app for my Mobile App Design and Development course last semester (67-443). In this app, my team focused on the pronunciation of tones when speaking Mandarin as these are the bigger pain points for non-native speakers. I worked on the backend using Firebase and handled API stuff. Our team ended up getting 2nd place our all the projects, so I'm happy about the turnout.
I'm taking this course because (1) it's required for IS majors and (2) I feel like the projects I've worked on in the past either personal or in teams have been hard to manage or messy in some sense. The final result works but it's a pain to have to go back to the code and understand what I did and I feel that can be attributed to poor planning and architecture of my projects. So I hope to strengthen that in this course and walk out a more organized and better developer when it comes to project planning and system-design.
Outside of classes, I'm a part of the IS Ambassador program, a Resident Assistant for a first year dorm on campus, and an active member in a Christianity organization called Acts2Fellows. My favorite places to eat in Pittsburgh are Alta Via Pizzaria (AVP) in Bakery Square and Noodlehead. On my free time I like to watch anime shows like Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen (Gojo my king) as well as play video games like Fortnite and small broswer game called Bonk.io (I like to make coding projects related to this game as well!).
